Uzbekistan, Afghanistan Boost Ties with $100M Trade Deals

Uzbekistan and Afghanistan have strengthened economic ties by signing investment and trade agreements worth more than $100 million during a business forum held in Kabul.

The forum brought together private sector representatives, business associations, and officials from both countries. At the conclusion of the event, 13 agreements were signed, focusing on trade expansion and investment cooperation, The Caspian Post reports via UzDaily.

The main discussions centered on increasing bilateral trade, exploring new investment opportunities, and deepening economic cooperation between Kabul and Tashkent.

Afghanistan’s Minister of Industry and Commerce Nooruddin Azizi said economic relations between the two countries have noticeably intensified in recent months.

He noted that Afghanistan continues efforts to strengthen regional trade links and create more favorable conditions for investors. Azizi also highlighted the country’s investment potential, citing its labor resources and growing opportunities across different sectors, adding that Afghanistan is ready to establish joint ventures with foreign partners.

According to Afghan officials, foreign investment inflows reached around $2 billion in the 1404 Afghan calendar year, which ended on March 20, 2026. This reflects growing international interest in Afghanistan’s economy.

The Uzbek delegation was led by Amanbay Orinbayev, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Karakalpakstan and Deputy Chairman of the Senate of Uzbekistan. He reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s interest in expanding economic cooperation with Afghanistan and described the newly signed agreements as an important step in regional partnership.

Orinbayev also encouraged Afghan businesses to make greater use of joint investment mechanisms to access new regional markets.

Forum participants noted that the total value of agreements between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan has exceeded $1.5 billion.
