Uzbekistan and Mongolia Boost Cooperation to Expand Regional Trade Routes

The government of Uzbekistan is implementing measures to diversify its trade routes, aiming to reduce reliance on routes that pass through Russia.

Deputy Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan Jasurbek Choriev met with Deputy Minister of Road Development and Transport of Mongolia Sandagdorj Batbold in Ulaanbaatar on June 16, The Caspian Post reports citing AKIpress.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from both countries specializing in rail, air and road transport.

The parties reviewed the current state and prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation in the transport and logistics sector with the participation of representatives of the railway, aviation and motor transport industries.

Special attention was paid to the development of international cargo transportation between the two countries. The parties welcomed the completion of the first pilot flight on the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan-China-Mongolia route bypassing Russia, which was a significant step in the development of regional ties.

The sides also exchanged views on the potential of this transport corridor, its relevance, and discussed existing problems and possible solutions.

In addition, issues of civil aviation were also touched upon, in particular, the establishment of direct flights between Tashkent and Ulaanbaatar and the development of tourist exchange. The initiative is expected to promote tourism and strengthen ties between the two peoples.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to expand mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of transport and logistics, activate practical interaction and promote interaction through the implementation of specific joint projects..
