Uzbekistan, Asian Development Bank Boost Partnership for Sustainable Growth

During the World Bank and IMF Annual Meetings in Washington, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, Jamshid Kuchkarov, has met with Yingming Yang, Vice President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), to strengthen economic cooperation.

Joined by key officials including Central Bank Chairman Timur Ishmetov, the talks focused on expanding collaboration to support new economic sectors and promote sustainable growth in Uzbekistan, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

Key discussion points included boosting energy efficiency through the development of an ESCO market tied to the green economy, supporting the Uzbekistan Mortgage Refinancing Company’s expansion into capital markets, and accelerating digital transformation for small and medium-sized enterprises.

Both sides highlighted the role of “green growth” and innovation in Uzbekistan’s evolving economic model. They also explored advancing joint ADB projects providing technical assistance and expert support to implement global best practices.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to deepen partnership efforts in sustainable development, modern technology adoption, and private sector growth stimulation-paving the way for a greener, more resilient Uzbek economy.
