Uzbekistan-Belarus Forum Highlights New Horizons in Agro-Industrial Cooperation

The fifth session of the Third Belarus-Uzbekistan Women's Business Forum has focused on “Uzbekistan - Belarus: An Expert Perspective on Partnership Horizons in the Agro-Industrial Sector.”

The session brought together experts and officials to discuss collaboration in the agro-industrial complex (AIC), including expanding research and development, adopting modern agricultural technologies and innovative solutions, and developing joint investment projects, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

Speakers highlighted that both countries place strong emphasis on food security, modernizing farms and agricultural clusters, and applying advanced technologies and scientific approaches to agriculture. Belarus’ expertise in agricultural mechanization, high-tech applications, and workforce training was recognized as particularly valuable for Uzbekistan’s sector development.

Trade between the two countries in agro-industrial and food products reached $234.2 million in 2024 and $122.7 million in the first five months of 2025, underscoring the growing economic ties.

The session concluded with the signing of memorandums of cooperation, including partnerships between the Southern Agriculture Scientific Research Institute of Uzbekistan and the V.F. Kuprevich Institute of Experimental Botany of Belarus National Academy of Sciences, as well as between the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers and the Republican Research Subsidiary Unitary Enterprise “Flax Institute” of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
