Uzbekistan is intensifying its collaboration with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), aiming to accelerate agricultural development and food security through innovative projects and strategic partnerships.
The Uzbek delegation is playing a prominent role at the ongoing Second UN Food Systems Summit Stocktake (UNFSS+4) in Addis Ababa, participating in key high-level meetings and thematic discussions, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
Uzbekistan’s Minister of Agriculture, Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov, held constructive talks with IFAD President Álvaro Lario.
Both sides praised the successful implementation of IFAD-supported projects in Uzbekistan. Lario highlighted their significant social and economic benefits and expressed a strong commitment to expanding cooperation.
Abdurakhmonov also engaged in a high-level session titled “Transformation Amid Instability,” supported by the UN World Food Programme (WFP), UNICEF, and the HDP Nexus coalition. Discussions centered on stabilizing global food systems, transitioning from short-term humanitarian aid to sustainable, long-term strategies, and encouraging innovative investments in the agri-food sector.
