Uzbekistan will begin developing four uranium deposits in 2026, according to details announced during a presentation attended by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The projects include the Arnasay, Western Kizilkok, Southern Zhongeldi, and Eastern Agron deposits. Last year, the country produced 7,000 tons of uranium, while proven reserves have reached 139,000 tons, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

At the same time, Uzbekistan plans to significantly increase coal output. During the 2025-2026 autumn-winter season, production is expected to reach 10 million tons-1.3 million tons more than last season. As of now, 9 million tons have already been mined.

President Mirziyoyev has instructed officials to raise coal production to 11 million tons in the next season. To achieve this target, authorities will ускорate the development of deposits in the Tashkent and southern regions, expand selective mining practices, and deploy additional excavators and heavy machinery.

The measures are part of broader efforts to strengthen energy security and meet rising domestic demand.
