Mirziyoyev Opens “Uzbekistan” Complex in Türkiye’s Hatay

During the official visit of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Ankara, a ceremonial opening of "Uzbekistan" residential complex has taken place in Türkiye’s Hatay Province.

The housing project was built by the Uzbek side for families who lost their homes in the devastating earthquake that struck the region three years ago, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

President Mirziyoyev said at the ceremony that Uzbekistan stood by Türkiye from the very first days of the tragedy. Uzbek rescue teams and medical workers were dispatched to the disaster zone, where they helped clear debris, rescued survivors, and provided medical assistance to thousands of victims. The residential complex, located in the Arsuz district, consists of 24 apartment buildings with 300 fully equipped flats and complete supporting infrastructure.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized that "Uzbekistan" complex stands as a symbol of sincere solidarity and the long-standing friendship between the Uzbek and Turkish peoples.

On the same day, construction officially began at an Uzbek school in Istanbul’s Bakırköy district. The school will become Uzbekistan’s first educational institution abroad, allowing children from Uzbek families living in Türkiye to study in their native language and preserve national traditions.

The two presidents personally handed over the keys to the first residents of the new housing complex in Hatay. Following the events, President Mirziyoyev departed for Tashkent. He was seen off at Ankara Esenboğa Airport by Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz.
