Uzbekistan, IMF Discuss Economic Reforms, Energy Projects, and Future Growth

Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov has met with an IMF delegation led by Yasser Abdih, where both sides reviewed the country’s current economic landscape.

During the discussions, both sides reviewed the country’s long-term development prospects, focusing on key macroeconomic indicators, recent achievements, and strategic plans for the coming years, The Caspian Post informs via Uzbek media.

Special attention was given to ensuring macroeconomic stability, boosting GDP growth, reducing inflation, and accelerating ongoing reforms such as privatization and energy-sector transformation. Strengthening market relations in the energy sphere also remained a central topic.

The meeting further highlighted major public-private partnership (PPP) initiatives aimed at expanding electricity supply, developing transport infrastructure, and building modern airports and highways. Projects supporting tourism growth and job creation were also discussed.

Both sides reviewed ways to improve tax and customs administration, as well as measures to curb the shadow economy.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Uzbekistan and the IMF agreed to deepen their mutually beneficial cooperation and continue active dialogue between the IMF and Uzbekistan’s economic institutions.
