Uzbekistan, International Organization for Migration Partner to Empower Women from Migrant Families

Uzbekistan's “Hamroh” company, which focuses on supporting women’s entrepreneurship, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to strengthen the economic resilience of women from migrant families.

The new partnership focuses on several key areas of cooperation, including mobilizing financial resources for women entrepreneurs through grant programs and specialized training initiatives, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

Under the agreement, targeted grant mechanisms will help women from migrant families achieve stable incomes and reduce their economic vulnerability.

In addition, mentorship programs will connect participants with experienced business leaders, enabling knowledge exchange and deeper engagement with business associations. A comprehensive system will also monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of these initiatives.

Nozimakhon Davletova, Advisor to the Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan and Head of the Human Capital Development Project Office, highlighted the broader impact of the initiative:

“By expanding opportunities for women, we not only support them but also create conditions for positive changes within families. This contributes to better household budgeting, effective use of remittances, and enhanced resilience of households to climate change.”
