Uzbekistan is considering simplifying procedures for exporting sunflower oil produced from imported seeds - a move that could support local producers and expand trade opportunities.
The proposal was discussed during an open dialogue between a government commission and entrepreneurs in the Navoi Region, where business representatives raised ongoing challenges in the sector, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
A representative of Solis Oils, based in the Navbahor District, highlighted that a previously submitted proposal to simplify export procedures for vegetable oil has yet to be implemented. The company specializes in producing vegetable and animal oils and fats.
Responding to the concerns, Doniyor Ganiev, representative from the Cabinet of Ministers confirmed that a dedicated working group has reviewed the issue and issued its conclusions.
Under current regulations, companies are allowed to export no more than 50% of the oil produced from seeds they directly import - a restriction that businesses say limits growth and export potential.
