Uzbekistan, Pakistan Eye New Trade Routes via Strategic Transit Corridors

Uzbekistan and Pakistan are exploring new opportunities to boost trade by expanding cargo transit routes through Pakistani ports, opening a gateway for Uzbek goods to reach global markets.

The initiative was discussed during talks between Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari and Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Alisher Tukhtaev. Both sides highlighted the importance of diversifying bilateral trade and strengthening economic cooperation, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

A key focus of the discussions was the development of the Trans-Afghan railway - a major infrastructure project expected to connect Central and South Asia, significantly improving logistics and reducing transit times.

President Zardari voiced strong support for the project, noting its strategic role in enhancing regional connectivity and unlocking new trade potential.
