Uzbekistan and the Republic of Palau have officially established diplomatic relations, marking a new step in expanding Uzbekistan’s international partnerships.
The joint communiqué was signed by Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov and Palau’s State Minister Gustav Aitaro, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
“This is a landmark document,” Saidov declared. “It not only demonstrates our shared commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, but also lays the groundwork for promising cooperation and strategic partnership.”
He added that this move opens the way for building robust, long-term ties across various sectors between the two nations.
With this new agreement, Uzbekistan increases its diplomatic network to 165 countries.
Palau is a Pacific island nation located in the Philippine Sea, approximately 800 kilometers east of the Philippines and north of Indonesia. Its capital is Ngerulmud, and it maintains an association with the United States under the Compact of Free Association.
