On January 27, Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov.
Minister Meredov visited Uzbekistan to take part in the next round of Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan political consultations, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.
He conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes from the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The discussions focused on developing and strengthening friendship, good neighborliness, and strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
The dynamic growth of trade turnover was noted with satisfaction, surpassing $1.1 billion in 2024. Work is underway to establish the Shavat - Dashoguz cross-border trade zone jointly. Close and mutually beneficial cooperation continues in industrial cooperation, energy, transport and logistics, agriculture, and water management. Interregional ties and cultural and humanitarian exchanges are also expanding.
On behalf of the leadership of Turkmenistan, deep appreciation was expressed to the President of Uzbekistan for hosting the presentation of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov’s new book, “Hakyda Göwheri” (The Pearl of Wisdom), in Tashkent, published in Uzbek.
Special attention was given to shaping a new, extensive agenda for the multifaceted partnership between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, as well as preparing for upcoming high-level visits, the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of the region, and summits in the “Central Asia Plus” format.
Views on international policy issues were also exchanged.
