An inaugural agreement has been signed in Tel Aviv between Israeli company GCI Gemological Centers Ltd., headquartered in one of the world’s leading diamond trade hubs, and Uzbek firm Expert One LLC to establish “GCI Gemological Centers Uzbekistan” in Tashkent, specializing in the appraisal, certification, and education of precious stones and diamonds.
The new center will offer professional gemological examinations, certify gemstones according to GCI’s international standards, and provide educational programs in gemology, The Caspian Post reports per Uzbek media.
This will mark GCI’s first branch in Central Asia and its second location worldwide.
The decision to open the branch in Uzbekistan was influenced by a thorough evaluation of the country’s reform efforts under Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, highlighting improved investment conditions, anti-corruption measures, increasing international confidence, and the development of human capital.
The agreement was facilitated by Nargiza Kadirova, head of the Trade and Investment House “Yangi O‘zbekiston” which was established in August 2024 with diplomatic support and has become a key platform for promoting major trade, economic, and investment initiatives in Uzbekistan.
