Uzbekistan Sees 28.8% Surge in International Student Enrollment in 2025

Uzbekistan welcomed 14,216 international students between January and August 2025, marking a 28.8 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.

The year-on-year growth of 3,179 students underscores the country’s growing reputation as a regional hub for higher education, The Caspian Post informs via Uzbek media.

The majority of foreign students came from neighboring and regional countries, with Turkmenistan leading the list at 4,603 students. India followed with 3,477, and Tajikistan ranked third with 1,392 students.

Kyrgyzstan - 333

US - 319

Philippines - 245

Türkiye - 233

Afghanistan - 226

Egypt - 203

Russia - 121

UK - 110

South Africa - 98

Additionally, 893 students arrived from various other nations, further highlighting the international appeal of Uzbekistan’s educational institutions.
