Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov, has recently met with South Korea’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Won Do Yeon, to discuss ongoing and future collaboration in the digital technology sector.
The meeting highlighted the strong and effective partnership between the two countries in advancing digital transformation, The Caspian Post reports per Uzbek media.
Ambassador Won praised Uzbekistan’s recent State Service Forum held in Samarkand and recognized the nation’s steady progress in international e-government rankings.
A major focus of the discussions was the Korean-Uzbek Digital Center project. The Ambassador applauded the project’s achievements and called for its continued expansion. Shermatov underscored the Center’s key role in promoting e-government development and enhancing Uzbekistan’s global digital standing.
Shermatov also outlined Uzbekistan’s ambitious target to enter the top 30 most digitally advanced countries by 2030, emphasizing the importance of ongoing collaboration with South Korea to reach this goal.
The dialogue further covered plans to attract leading South Korean IT firms to invest and operate in Uzbekistan, with strong support from the South Korean Embassy.
In addition, both parties explored ways to develop INHA University’s presence in Uzbekistan and improve its academic programs to better serve the country’s digital education needs.
