Uzbekistan, Switzerland Turn Leather Waste into Green Gold

Uzbekistan and Switzerland have joined forces to transform leather industry waste into high-quality mineral fertilizers.

A major project is being launched by the Association of Leather and Footwear Producers of Uzbekistan in partnership with SwissGrow, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

The initiative will use advanced technology to process waste from leather production into high-quality mineral fertilizers for agriculture - a resource previously discarded without economic benefit.

Head of the Association’s Press Service Aziz Kattayev said that SwissGrow’s technology will help address environmental concerns while supplying the agricultural sector with locally made, eco-friendly fertilizers.

Experts say the project will not only boost economic returns but also strengthen Uzbekistan’s international standing in sustainable development. The conversion of industrial by-products into valuable resources marks a significant step toward efficient resource use and a greener future.
