Uzbekistan, Türkiye Aim to Boost Trade to $5 Billion

Uzbekistan and Türkiye have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening economic ties, targeting a bilateral trade turnover of $5 billion.

The goal was discussed during a meeting between Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Ilhom Khaydarov and Türkiye’s Deputy Minister of Trade Mustafa Tuzcu, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

Talks focused on the current state and future prospects of trade, economic, and investment cooperation, including expanding the range of goods under the preferential trade agreement.

Mutual trade currently stands at $2.4 billion, and both sides emphasized the importance of fully utilizing existing mechanisms to increase this figure. Tuzcu highlighted untapped potential and new opportunities, noting that products from both countries are competitive internationally.

Türkiye also expressed readiness to support Uzbekistan by strengthening institutional capacity, improving professional skills, and providing methodological guidance in negotiating and implementing preferential and free trade agreements.
