Uzbekistan has held talks with Afghanistan on expanding textile industry cooperation, focusing on joint production, investment, and modernization of the sector.
A delegation from Uzbekistan visited Afghanistan to discuss new opportunities in textile manufacturing and industrial collaboration, The Caspian Post reports via UzDaily.
The delegation included representatives of Uzbekistan’s Light Industry Development Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers, the “Uztextilprom” Association, and leading textile enterprises.
During meetings in Balkh and Kunduz provinces, both sides explored prospects for deeper cooperation across the textile value chain - from cotton processing and yarn production to fabrics and finished goods.
Discussions were held with officials including Chairman of the Balkh Chamber of Commerce and Investment Ibrahim Ghazanfar, Balkh Province Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs Mawlawi Nurul Hoda Abu Idris, as well as executives from Balkh Textile Factory and the Durakhshan Group.
The talks focused on establishing modern textile and cotton processing facilities, launching joint industrial projects, introducing advanced technologies, and upgrading production capacities.
Both sides also considered expanding exports of finished textile products, with officials noting that the partnership could help create new jobs and significantly boost the export potential of the textile sector.
