Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a joint declaration in Tashkent following high-level bilateral talks.
During the ceremony, the two leaders witnessed the exchange of a broad package of documents aimed at strengthening strategic cooperation across key sectors, The Caspian Post informs via Uzbek media.
Among the agreements were a document regulating the operation of the Uzbek-Turkmen Border Trade Zone, a cooperation agreement in healthcare and medical science, and another focused on expanding joint work in agriculture. The sides also approved a protocol enabling international passenger and freight road transportation.
The two countries endorsed cooperation programs between their justice ministries and cultural institutions for 2026-2027, signaling deeper institutional ties. Several new memorandums were also signed, including agreements on the supply of railway tank cars for transporting petroleum products and chemical cargo, on enhancing biological safety cooperation, and on establishing a joint expert council between specialized research institutes of both states.
In addition, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan adopted a 2026-2030 “roadmap” for collaboration in forestry. Regional authorities from both countries concluded agreements aimed at advancing trade and economic relations, as well as expanding scientific, technical, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation.
The signed documents reflect the growing momentum in Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan relations and a shared commitment to long-term regional partnership.
