The newly appointed Iranian ambassador to Yerevan, Khalil Shirgholami, presented his credentials to Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan, the Presidential Office announced in a statement.
President Khachaturyan congratulated Shirgholami on his appointment and expressed hope that his tenure would contribute to further strengthening and developing Yerevan-Tehran relations, The Caspian Post reports, citing Armenian media.
He highlighted the traditionally friendly ties between the two countries and noted the expansion of bilateral cooperation in recent years.
Ambassador Shirgholami thanked the president for the warm reception, stressing the positive attitude he has experienced since arriving in Armenia, which he said reflects the friendly relations between the two peoples.
The meeting addressed the multifaceted cooperation between Armenia and Iran and explored opportunities for its further development. The leaders discussed the implementation of regional programs and the importance of fully utilizing existing potential. They also exchanged views on regional developments.
The ambassador reiterated Iran’s support for efforts to establish lasting peace and security in the region. The parties also explored prospects for deepening cooperation in high technologies, infrastructure, and energy, including the implementation of joint projects, reaffirming their mutual interest in consistently developing bilateral relations and expanding collaboration into new areas.
