Iran and Armenia Could Conduct Large-Scale Military Drills, Says Ambassador

Iranian Ambassador to Armenia, Khalil Shirgholami, stated on Tuesday that, given the existing ties between the two countries in various areas, including defense, similar events - such as the Armenia-Iran military exercises held last year - may occur again in the future and could be even larger in scale.

Shirgholami recalled that at the moment, Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan is in Tehran on an official visit, which also indicates the upsurge in relations between the two countries, The Caspian Post reports, citing Armenian media.

The Iranian diplomat added that Papikyan's current visit to Iran was planned in advance.

"And this once again proves the development of cooperation between our countries in various domains. Within the framework of this visit, the parties will be able to exchange views on various topics and deepen cooperation," noted the Iranian ambassador to Armenia.

Shirgholami stated that the border between Armenia and Iran has always been a border of peace, and it is of great importance for both countries, and cooperation in the military sphere is based on these historical ties, the inviolability of the borders, and the preservation of the territorial integrity of both countries.
