Regular direct flights between Cairo and Baku could be launched in the near future, marking a major step toward strengthening tourism, business, and cultural ties between Egypt and Azerbaijan.
Speaking at a reception marking the 74th anniversary of Egypt's National Day, Egypt's Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Hossam El-Din Effat Mustafa Reda, said he is optimistic that plans for nonstop air service will soon become a reality, The Caspian Post reports via Report.
The ambassador noted he was hopeful-and almost certain-that the shared goal of launching regular direct flights between Cairo and Baku would soon become a reality, adding that the new air link would provide an important foundation for further strengthening bilateral relations.
The diplomat also said that direct flights would significantly boost cooperation in tourism, trade, culture, and business, making travel between the two countries easier and more accessible.
The ambassador highlighted Egypt's efforts to simplify travel for Azerbaijani citizens. He noted that Azerbaijani passport holders can now obtain a visa on arrival at all Egyptian entry points, rather than only in Sharm El-Sheikh. He expressed hope that Azerbaijan would introduce similar visa facilitation measures for Egyptian travelers in the future.
Beyond travel, Egypt is launching a broad cultural outreach initiative through its embassy and cultural center in Baku to help Azerbaijanis gain a deeper understanding of the country.
The ambassador also praised the strong public interest in the live broadcast of the Grand Egyptian Museum's opening ceremony, which was hosted at the Heydar Aliyev Center last November with the support of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.
