The 7th Turcology Summer School, jointly organized by the International Turkic Academy and the Turkish Academy of Sciences, wrapped up at Karabakh University, bringing together 32 young scholars and doctoral students from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and North Macedonia.
The weeklong program featured intensive lectures and workshops on linguistics, literary studies, history, ethnography, and cultural research, led by 15 distinguished experts from five countries, The Caspian Post informs via local media.
Participants shared research experience, explored modern academic methods, and strengthened collaborative ties across the Turkic world.
Highlights included lectures by Dr. Elchin Ibrahimov on “The Common Alphabet Problem in the Turkic World” and Ajdar Babazade on “The Role of Karabakh’s Paleoecosystem in Human Evolution.” Scholars also participated in a cultural tour of Shusha and the historic Isa Spring.
An academic competition among nine teams named after Turkic cultural symbols saw the Gokturk team take first place, followed by Manas and Dede Gorgud. All participants received joint certificates from Karabakh University, the International Turkic Academy, and the Turkish Academy of Sciences.
The summer school, which opened on August 11 with speeches from Karabakh University Rector Shahin Bayramov, International Turkic Academy President Shahin Mustafayev, and Turkish Academy of Sciences President Muzaffer Şeker, continues the tradition of previous editions held in Türkiye, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan. Karabakh University plans to advance further joint projects to preserve and promote the shared heritage of the Turkic world.
