Israeli Ambassador: Azerbaijan Rightly Proud of Its Multiculturalism Model

“Azerbaijan is rightfully proud of its model of tolerance and multiculturalism. When President Ilham Aliyev first received me in 2019, he said that a Jew could walk the streets of Baku more safely than in Paris. The President was right then, and he is even more right today,” said George Deek, Ambassador of the State of Israel to Azerbaijan, at a press conference marking the end of his diplomatic mission in the country, The Caspian Post reports citing AZERTAC.

He emphasized that Azerbaijan has eliminated the remnants of anti-Semitism inherited from the Soviet period. The authoritative international organization “IMPACT-se” has recognized Azerbaijan as an example in this regard.

“Azerbaijan commemorates International Holocaust Remembrance Day with the participation of government and religious representatives. In addition, Azerbaijan encourages its students to pursue education in Israel. All of this reflects the friendly relations between the two countries,” the ambassador added.
