Construction of China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway Launched

The Construction of the China - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan railway has been launched in Kyrgyzstan’s Jalal-Abad.

The ceremony, held in this regard, was attended by delegations led by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Zhaparov, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Jamshid Khodjayev, Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission of China, Zheng Shanjie, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

The address of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping was delivered at the beginning of the ceremony.

As the President of Uzbekistan noted, 15 million tons of cargo will be transported along this road per year.

This railway will be connected to the Trans-Afghan Corridor and will effectively integrate and strengthen the transport-communication network between China, Central Asia, and South Asia.

20 stations, 42 bridges, and 25 tunnels will be built along the Kashgar - Torugart - Makmal - Jalalabad - Andijan route. In addition, a modern transit and logistics infrastructure, warehouses, and terminals will be built.

Implementing this significant project will undoubtedly benefit the countries’ economies. As a result, hundreds of new enterprises and tens of thousands of jobs will be created.
