The Central Bank of Russia has informed that the total volume of cash in circulation reached 19,789.9 billion rubles as of April 1, 2026. Since the start of the year, this amount has increased by 126.5 billion rubles.
According to the regulator’s data, the total number of banknotes in circulation stood at 83.18 billion units, The Caspian Post reports.
Banknotes make up the overwhelming share of the total cash value-19,659.1 billion rubles, or 99.3%. Coins represent just 0.7% of the total value, amounting to 130.8 billion rubles. However, in terms of quantity, coins dominate: they account for 88.9% of all units in circulation, while banknotes make up only 11.1%.
Since the beginning of the year, the value of banknotes has risen by 126.1 billion rubles, marking a 0.7% increase. Over the same period, the value of coins grew by 400 million rubles, or 0.3%.
The Central Bank of Russia also noted that banknotes with denominations of 5, 10, 50, and 200 rubles each account for less than 0.5% of the total cash supply. Among coins, 1 and 5 kopecks, as well as 50 rubles, also hold a minimal share. The least common coins are those with denominations of 25 and 50 rubles, each representing no more than 0.5% of the total.
