At the 29th UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku, Azerbaijan, the ECO-UNIDO Clean Energy Center was officially launched, marking a significant milestone in the region's push for sustainable energy solutions.
Parviz Shahbazov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy, highlighted the initiative’s role in enhancing leadership in energy, fostering regional cooperation, and accelerating the transition to renewable energy across ECO member states, The Caspian Post reports.
Speaking at the ceremony, Shahbazov emphasized the center's primary objectives: "Our goal is to promote a sustainable energy transition, attract investment in green energy, and enhance energy efficiency in the region. We also aim to mobilize both financial and technical resources to support the development of green energy projects and infrastructure."
The launch of the ECO-UNIDO Clean Energy Center is seen as a key step toward bolstering regional efforts for a cleaner, more sustainable energy future.
