Georgia and Türkiye have agreed to deepen cooperation on forest management and irrigation infrastructure, signing two memorandums aimed at sharing expertise, technology, and best practices.
The documents were signed in Istanbul by Georgian Agriculture Minister David Songulashvili and Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı, The Caspian Post reports via Sputnik Georgia.
Speaking after the signing ceremony, Songulashvili said Türkiye’s experience in forest management and irrigation is valuable for Georgia, stressing the importance of exchanging knowledge and practical expertise between the two countries.
Yumaklı highlighted the growing range of cooperation projects between Türkiye and Georgia and said he expects the partnership to continue expanding.
The agreement on irrigation, drainage, and irrigation infrastructure focuses on knowledge transfer, technical cooperation, and technology exchange designed to improve irrigation networks and provide better irrigation and drainage services.
The forestry memorandum aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation on forest protection and management. Areas of cooperation include forest management practices, seedling cultivation technologies, biodiversity conservation, management of protected areas, and ecotourism.
