Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has warned that hybrid attacks aim to undermine the country’s stability and statehood, stir public unrest with fabricated issues, and harm national interests.
He noted that investigations by the State Security Service confirmed that Georgian police have not used banned substances to disperse protesters since 2007, contradicting claims made by the BBC, The Caspian Post reports via Georgian media.
"Thus, since there is nothing to investigate regarding the use of so-called ‘Kamita’ and other banned substances, investigative actions are fully exhausted, and the matter is closed," Kobakhidze said.
The prime minister added that investigations into individuals aiding foreign forces in hostile activities will continue: "All individuals or groups for whom sufficient evidence exists showing deliberate actions that harmed national interests, Georgia’s international image, and reputation will be punished to the fullest extent of the law."
Kobakhidze emphasized that the Georgian government and State Security Service will not allow foreign intelligence agencies or their local networks to threaten the country’s statehood or damage national interests.
