A new chapter in Georgia-Serbia relations is unfolding as Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić arrived in Tbilisi for the first-ever official visit to Georgia by the Serbian head of state.
President Vučić, accompanied by his wife and a state delegation, was welcomed at Tbilisi International Airport by Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili, who described the visit as a landmark moment for bilateral ties, The Caspian Post reports via Georgia Online.
The high-profile trip is expected to boost political, trade, and economic cooperation between the two countries, with a series of key meetings planned, including talks between the two presidents.
Kvrivishvili said that the visit comes at a particularly important time as Georgia and Serbia are negotiating a free trade agreement that could significantly expand economic ties.
The proposed deal would increase trade turnover, create new export opportunities for Georgian businesses, and deepen commercial cooperation between the two nations.
Kvrivishvili highlighted the rapid progress of the negotiations, noting that the agreement could become a rare example of two countries successfully concluding a free trade deal within a short timeframe.
If finalized, the agreement is expected to strengthen economic relations, boost Georgian exports, and support long-term growth in both countries.
