Uzbekistan, Georgia Boost Bilateral Ties, Pave Way for Expanded Trade and Investment

Uzbekistan and Georgia have taken a significant step forward in expanding bilateral economic cooperation, as top officials from both nations met in Tashkent to chart a course for deeper collaboration.

During a high-level meeting, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov and Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili discussed key areas of mutual interest, focusing on trade, transport connectivity, logistics, investment, and interregional cooperation, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

The ministers acknowledged remarkable progress in bilateral trade, noting that the volume of trade between the two countries has grown 3.5 times over the past five years, including an impressive 50 per cent increase in 2024.

A special focus was placed on strengthening industrial cooperation - particularly in sectors such as textiles, fruit and vegetable processing, and pharmaceuticals - with both sides identifying strong potential for joint ventures and co-production.

To ensure practical follow-up on the outcomes of the talks, the two ministries announced the formation of a Joint Working Group comprised of specialized experts from both countries. The group will coordinate the implementation of strategic initiatives and monitor progress in key areas of cooperation.
