Two US Navy P-8A Poseidon patrol anti-submarine aircraft made new flights on Sunday over the Strait of Hormuz off the coast of Iran.
The aircraft took off from Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain and patrolled the Strait of Hormuz for several hours, flying between the Persian and Oman Gulfs at an altitude of about 6,000-7,000 meters, according to the aviation resource Flightradar24, The Caspian Post reports.
American P-8A Poseidon patrol aircraft, as well as long-range MQ-4C Triton drones, are regularly used for surveillance in the area of the Strait of Hormuz and the neighboring gulfs.
At the same time, the European Earth observation satellite Sentinel-2 detected the location of the American aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln in the Arabian Sea on Sunday. According to the images, the ship is approximately 700 km from the Iranian coast in the Gulf of Oman and 300 km east of Oman. Earlier, US Central Command reported that the aircraft carrier was located 500 miles (about 800 km) from Iran.
