Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi has declared that Tehran will not accept any agreement that restricts its right to enrich uranium, emphasizing the nation’s stance during a meeting with foreign diplomats in the Iranian capital.
“If negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program resume, they will be strictly limited to that subject,” Araghchi stated, The Caspian Post reports via local media.
He stressed that any future discussions must focus on building confidence in Iran’s peaceful nuclear intentions in exchange for the lifting of international sanctions.
“Uranium enrichment represents a significant scientific achievement by Iranian researchers. Iran will protect this accomplishment at all costs,” he added.
The statement comes at a time of heightened regional instability following a June 13 Israeli airstrike on Iranian territory. The attack resulted in the deaths of several senior Iranian military leaders.
In retaliation, Iran launched over 150 ballistic missiles and more than 100 drones toward Tel Aviv and other Israeli cities, causing civilian casualties and substantial damage.
The conflict escalated further on June 22 when the United States conducted targeted airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, including sites in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.
