Kazakhstan and Iran are discussing the launch of direct flights from Astana as part of broader efforts to strengthen tourism and transport links between the two countries.
Iran's Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Ali Akbar Joukar, said that the proposal was raised during the June visit of Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Farzaneh Sadegh, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakhstan Today.
The two sides also discussed increasing the number of flights from Almaty and Aktau to Iran to meet growing demand.
"This presents a great opportunity and significant potential for expanding tourism between our countries," Ambassador Joukar said.
The ambassador said that the number of weekly flights on the Aktau-Tehran route is expected to increase from two to three.
In addition to expanding air connectivity, Kazakhstan and Iran are exploring opportunities to develop tourism across the Caspian Sea, further enhancing travel and economic cooperation between the neighboring countries.
