Iran has resumed gas production at three offshore platforms in the massive South Pars gas field, marking a significant step toward restoring output after U.S.-Israeli strikes damaged key onshore processing facilities.
Touraj Dehqani, CEO of Pars Oil and Gas Company, said that production recovery is progressing steadily thanks to the efforts of energy specialists and the full utilization of available infrastructure, The Caspian Post reports via Anadolu Agency.
“Three offshore South Pars platforms have so far returned to the production cycle,” Dehqani said, highlighting the industry's rapid response to the disruptions.
Although several offshore platforms remained intact, gas production had been halted because damaged refineries in the Assaluyeh region were unable to process output. The strikes, which targeted energy infrastructure in March, partially disrupted operations at South Pars - the world’s largest natural gas field, jointly shared by Iran and Qatar.
The field is the backbone of Iran’s gas industry, supplying the majority of the country’s natural gas needs. Its recovery is therefore critical for maintaining national energy security and economic stability.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald J. Trump stated that no further attacks would be carried out against the South Pars gas field and said Washington had no prior knowledge of Israel’s strike on the facility.
