The Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces has called for closer cooperation with Tajikistan in combating terrorism.
In a meeting with Defense Minister of Tajikistan Lieutenant General Emomali Sobirzoda, held in Tehran on Wednesday, Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri hailed the growing relations between the military forces of the two countries, The Caspian Post reports citing Iranian media.
Expressing Iran’s readiness to promote military and defense cooperation with Tajikistan, the top general called for the exchange of training data and closer interaction in the fight against terrorism.
He noted that Iran and Tajikistan have a lot in common in terms of culture, history and religion, which could serve as a good basis for cooperation between their armed forces.
For his part, the Tajik defense minister hailed the Iranian armed forces’ power and efficiency, saying Iran’s defense industry has made great advances at the international level.
