NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has said there are no plans for the alliance to become involved in the ongoing war with Iran, while praising recent US and Israeli military actions.
In an interview with Germany’s ARD television in Brussels, Rutte described US operations carried out “together with Israel” as “really important,” saying they aim to weaken Iran’s ability to develop nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities, The Caspian Post reports.
However, he made clear that NATO as an organization would not take part in the conflict.
“There are absolutely no plans whatsoever for NATO to get dragged into this or to be part of it,” Rutte said, noting that individual member states may choose to support US efforts independently.
