Drone Attacks on Tankers Prompt Kazakhstan to Call for Action

The Kazakh Foreign Ministry has urged urgent action to ensure the safety of hydrocarbon shipments following drone attacks on tankers heading to the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) terminal in the Black Sea.

In a statement, the ministry expressed serious concern over the January 13 drone attacks on three tankers, emphasizing discussions with European ambassadors, the US, and other partners on the need for effective measures to secure energy transport, including maritime routes, in line with international law, The Caspian Post reports via the Kazakh Foreign Ministry.

Kazakhstan stressed that it is not part of any armed conflict, contributes significantly to global and European energy security, and ensures uninterrupted energy supplies in full compliance with international standards. The ministry also noted that the tankers were fully authorized and equipped with required identification systems.

Highlighting the growing number of incidents, Kazakhstan called on partners to cooperate closely to prevent similar risks to international energy infrastructure in the future.
