The two-day international arts festival "Melody of the World" has kicked off in Astana, Kazakhstan, bringing together cultural experts and artists from across the Turkic world.
The event is jointly organized by the Astana City Hall and the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, The Caspian Post informs via local media.
The opening day features a scientific symposium titled “Root and Sound: The Tradition of Crafting Turkic Musical Instruments and Modern Solutions.” Participants are examining issues related to preserving musical heritage, advancing traditional craftsmanship, and applying modern acoustic technologies. Among the attendees are prominent musicologists, researchers, and master instrument makers.
Azerbaijan is represented by Mammadali Mammadov, PhD and head of the laboratory for the restoration and improvement of national musical instruments at the Baku Music Academy, and Imina Amirova, PhD in Art Studies and a member of the Union of Composers of Azerbaijan.
The festival program also includes practical workshops at the newly opened Museum of Art, where visitors can observe instrument-making processes and participate in interactive sessions.
Organizers say the festival aims to promote scientific and artistic exchange, strengthen cultural cooperation, and highlight the diverse musical heritage of the Turkic world.
