Kazakh Deputy Defense Minister Askar Mustabekov has said that Kazakhstan is expanding video surveillance across its military units, with more than 15,000 cameras already installed and additional systems planned to eliminate blind spots.

Mustabekov made these remarks at a Senate briefing, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

He said the rollout of surveillance systems is underway in all military units, stressing that the priority is full coverage to improve safety and oversight. As part of a pilot project, several units are also testing AI-enabled cameras capable of detecting various violations and automatically alerting duty officers.

He added that transparency remains a key principle for the Defense Ministry.

Mustabekov noted that in recent tragic incidents in the army, parents were present on site and were shown the video recordings, with no information withheld.
