Kazakhstan’s lower house of parliament, the Majilis, is expected to convene for a plenary session on January 21 at 3:00 p.m. (GMT+5).
During the session, the MPs will consider a draft law on ratifying a protocol amending the 2003 Agreement between the governments of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan on border checkpoints, as well as protocols introducing changes to Articles 50(a) and 56 of the Convention on International Civil Aviation, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
The agenda follows a series of recent approvals by the Majilis, including the ratification of the Treaty on Deepening and Expanding Allied Relations between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, signed in Astana on April 19, 2024. The treaty is designed to boost comprehensive bilateral cooperation across political and military ties, trade and investment, agriculture, transit and transport links, water and energy resources, education, science and technology, and cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
The MPs are also set to move forward with a draft law on ratifying the European Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters. Earlier, the Majilis approved an agreement establishing unified rules for determining and confirming the origin of goods exported beyond the Eurasian Economic Union, signed on December 4, 2023.
