Films by Kyrgyz directors have earned top honors at the 24th Dhaka International Film Festival in Bangladesh.
In the Asian Competition section, Kurak, directed by Erke Dzhumakmatova and Emil Atageldiev, won Best Film, while Ot by Dastan Madalbekov and Aizada Bekbalaeva took Best Screenplay, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
In the Women Directors category, The Seventh Month by Aizada Amangeldy received the Best Directing award. Additionally, Bekbalaeva’s project Husband earned second place at the “West Meets East” screenplay laboratory.
The Dhaka International Film Festival, Bangladesh’s largest annual film festival, has been held since 1992 and draws filmmakers and cinema lovers worldwide. The event features screenings across genres, master classes, and discussions with renowned directors and actors.
