Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has participated in the expanded meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council (EIGC) in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, joining a joint session with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov and EIGC delegation heads as well as attending the Council’s expanded-format discussions.
During his discussion with President Zhaparov, the focus was placed on enhancing the economic potential of EAEU countries, improving living standards, promoting mutual trade, and removing barriers in the Union’s common market, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.
The expanded EIGC meeting also highlighted cooperation across trade and economic sectors, transport and logistics, oil and gas, digital technologies, customs and exchange operations, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and the labor market.
In his address, Bektenov emphasized key areas for cooperation, including boosting mutual trade and joint efforts to strengthen foreign economic ties.
Following the meeting, 10 key documents were signed:
Directive overruling the EEC Board decision of January 14, 2025, on customs authorities’ preliminary decisions for goods classification.
Approval of the program for developing exchange trading on the EAEU common organized goods market.
Approval of the EEC’s 2024 annual report on competition in transborder markets and preventive measures for violations of common competition rules.
Directive amending the Action Plan for coordinated transport policy of EAEU member states for 2024-2026.
Directive on allocation and distribution of import customs duty funds among EAEU member state budgets for 2024.
Directive on the Concept of the EAEU common market for pharmaceuticals.
Directive on the Concept of the EAEU common market for medical equipment.
Directive on nominating the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council as a member of the EEC Council.
Directive on nominating the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council as a member of the EEC Board.
Directive specifying the time and venue for the next EIGC meeting.
