Formal talks between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Russian President Vladimir Putin have officially begun in Moscow.
The official welcome ceremony for Tokayev took place in the St. George Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace, marking the start of his state visit to Russia on November 11-12, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.
Tokayev arrived in Moscow at Putin’s invitation, with the welcoming ceremony beginning midair - as fighter jets and helicopters escorted the Kazakh President’s aircraft in a gesture of special respect. Upon arrival at Vnukovo Airport, the ceremony continued with a military band and honor guard.
Ahead of the formal talks, the two leaders held informal discussions on bilateral relations, followed by a private dinner hosted by Putin.
During his visit, President Tokayev also laid flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow’s Alexander Garden and met with Valentina Matviyenko, Speaker of the Russian Federation Council, to discuss interparliamentary cooperation.
