Kazakh tennis player Beibit Zhukayev has qualified for the main draw of the 2025 Mubadala Citi DC Open, an ATP 500 tournament, following a hard-fought victory over Italian opponent Andrea Vavassori in the final round of qualifying.
Zhukayev battled through a three-set thriller, eventually securing the win with a score of 7-5, 6-7 (9-11), 6-4, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
The match showcased the Kazakh athlete’s resilience and composure under pressure, particularly during the tense second-set tiebreak.
With this win, Zhukayev earns a spot among the world’s elite players in the main draw of one of the tour’s premier hard-court events leading up to the US Open.
He will face Alexandre Müller of France in the first round, aiming to build momentum and further elevate his profile on the ATP Tour.
The Mubadala Citi DC Open, held annually in the US capital, is a key stop in the summer hard-court swing, attracting top international talent and offering crucial ranking points ahead of the final Grand Slam of the season.
