Kazakhstan Temir Zholy KTZ (Kazakhstan Railways) has reported a sharp increase in freight transportation to Uzbekistan in 2025.
Total freight traffic between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan reached 32.3 million tons, representing a 16 percent year-on-year increase. Export shipments also expanded steadily, rising by 8.5 percent to 13 million tons, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
Grain transportation recorded the fastest growth. Shipments of grain to Uzbekistan jumped by 32 percent, totaling 4.5 million tons, underscoring Kazakhstan’s growing role in ensuring regional food supply and logistics stability.
Across the entire KTZ rail network, freight volumes in 2025 climbed to 319.9 million tons, up 5.5 percent compared to 2024. Overall export freight increased by 7.1 percent, reaching 89.2 million tons.
In parallel, Kazakhstan Railways continues to expand grain shipments to Azerbaijan, strengthening Kazakhstan’s position as a key transit and export hub connecting Central Asia with neighboring markets.
