Kazakhstan, China Join Forces to Produce Ultrasound Machines Locally

The Kazakh Ministry of Healthcare, in collaboration with global medical technology leader China’s Mindray, have announced a major initiative to produce ultrasound machines domestically, aiming to boost the country’s healthcare technology sector and accessibility to advanced medical equipment.

The project was discussed during a high-level meeting in Astana between Kazakhstan’s Healthcare Minister Akmaral Alnazarova and Mindray representatives, including Vice President Xu Kewen and Alexander Duan, Director General for Central Asia, The Caspian Post reports per Kazakh media.

The talks focused on key topics such as regulatory registration, technology transfer, and training local specialists to support the manufacturing process.

This initiative is expected to improve the availability of modern diagnostic equipment in hospitals and clinics across Kazakhstan, foster the transfer of cutting-edge technologies, enhance local engineering skills, and increase the proportion of locally produced components in the healthcare system. The project also aims to create new jobs and stimulate related industries and maintenance infrastructure.

In addition to the ultrasound machine manufacturing, the meeting covered plans to expand telemedicine services, launch a charity program to install Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) nationwide, and introduce a leasing program for medical equipment targeting state-run healthcare facilities.

Alnazarova highlighted the strategic importance of the collaboration, stating, “This project is more than an investment-it is a strategic step towards technological sovereignty and sustainable development of our healthcare system. We are committed to strengthening domestic production capacities and building partnerships based on technology transfer and mutual benefit.”
