Kazakhstan Enters US Market with First Wheat Flour Export

Kazakhstan is taking a significant step into the US food market with plans to export domestically produced wheat flour.

A pilot shipment of 50 tons of Eurasian Legacy-brand flour was sent to New York, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

The shipment, coordinated by entrepreneur Samat Umirzakov with support from the Consulate General of Kazakhstan in New York, marks a milestone under the country’s new strategy to promote Kazakh food products internationally.

Although the flour is not yet widely available to consumers, it is expected to appear soon on major online platforms such as Amazon and Walmart. Negotiations are also underway to introduce the product to bakeries, restaurants, and coffee shops in New York, with a long-term plan to scale shipments to over 100 tons per month.

QazTrade, Kazakhstan’s national export development operator, emphasized that this initiative is part of a broader effort to diversify the country’s exports. CEO Aitmukhamed Aldazharov noted that other Kazakh products-including buckwheat, granola, talkan, chocolate, and cocoa-have already been presented in New York, Chicago, and Washington. Upcoming business missions aim to strengthen ties with the HoReCa sector, where demand for authentic and natural products is rising.

If permanent contracts are secured, Kazakhstan could establish regular deliveries to the US, boosting the Made in Kazakhstan brand and positioning the country as a source of high-quality, eco-friendly food products.

Earlier, Kazakhstan also explored opportunities to export flour to markets in the Middle East and Africa.
