Kazakhstan has taken a major step toward strengthening international cooperation against transnational crime by signing a landmark agreement with the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) during a high-level visit to Luxembourg.

Kazakhstan's Prosecutor General Berik Assylov met with European Chief Prosecutor Laura Kövesi, where the two sides signed a cooperation agreement aimed at enhancing cross-border criminal investigations and legal collaboration, The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.

The agreement provides for the direct exchange of operational information, the establishment of joint investigation teams, cooperation on extradition cases, and joint efforts to trace, seize, and confiscate criminal assets.

During the visit, Assylov also held talks with Luxembourg Prosecutor General John Petry to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in combating crime, strengthening mutual legal assistance mechanisms, sharing prosecutorial best practices, and reinforcing the rule of law.
